Welcome to Modernising Nursing in the Community
This is a constantly evolving online resource for anyone involved in nursing in the community, including allied health professionals, trainees and support workers. It will also be useful to people in broader roles, like education and training, research, leadership and management, service planning and commissioning.
The Modernising Board for Nursing in the Community aims to provide high quality, sustainable nursing care that firmly shifts the focus away from acute hospitals and into the community in line with Scottish Government policy.
We hope this resource will help you think differently about your role and how to develop your own practice in line with changing strategy and the overarching modernisation agenda.
It brings together a wide range of information and practical resources to keep you up to date with healthcare policy and the skills needed to put that policy into frontline practice and deliver safe, effective and person-centred care.
We will be constantly adding to the Modernising Nursing in the Community (MNiC) resource - with your help - to share learning about as many areas of nursing in the community as possible and introduce you to fresh ways of working that can be embedded in your setting or locality.
To help you find your way around the site, there are three main information platforms:
Within these you will find sections on different aspects of current policy and practice. Our guide to Using this site explains what is available in each section, how to search for specific materials and contribute your own suggestions.
On the News page we'll keep you posted on events you might find useful and flag up recently launched resources. In Additional information there are links to other sources of advice and support that you can signpost your patients and clients to, or which may be useful for your wider development.
