Welcome to Modernising Nursing in the Community
The Scottish Government's 2020 Vision is for everyone to live longer, healthier lives at home, or in a homely setting, and for an integrated health and care system with a focus on prevention, anticipating needs and supporting people to manage their own conditions.
This is an online resource for anyone involved in nursing in the community, including allied health professionals, trainees and support workers, and for people working elsewhere in the healthcare system, like education and training, research, leadership and management, service planning and commissioning.
It aims to bring together relevant information and practical
resources to keep you up to date with healthcare policy and the
skills needed to put that policy into frontline practice and
deliver safe, effective and person-centred care.
We hope this resource will help you develop your role and working practices in line with the changing shape of nursing in the community and the wider system, priorities, legislation and policy. It supports the promotion of a culture of professionalism - and improvements to care quality - through ongoing reflection that underpins the revalidation process nurses and midwives will undergo from 2015.
To help you find your way around the site, there are three main information platforms:
Within these you will find sections relevant to different aspects of current policy and practice, such as integrated working with other disciplines, involving service users and tackling inequalities.
Our guide to Using this site explains what is available in each section, how to search for specific materials and contribute your own suggestions.
On the News page we'll keep you posted on events you might find useful, applicable healthcare issues arising from the NHS in England, and flag up recently launched resources. Links and Forums provides signposting to other sources of advice and support that you can direct your patients and clients to, or which may help in your own development.
